Last Fling

You can tell I’m not really committed to blogging since I haven’t even updated my site to note my two most recent publications.last-flingAnyway, I’ll start with this one.

Last Fling is a story I started working on in the mid-1990s. It remained unfinished until about, I think 2010, though I’d always had an idea how it would end. As I mentioned in the Preface to the book, it is perhaps the oldest piece of writing I remain fond of. It is the first story I wrote where I tried to break out, ever so slightly, from my previous work which had focused on very abusive, aggressive female characters. I’ll write more about that at some point, but this is basically an inadvertent cuckolding story — some miscommunication, things get out of hand, etc.

Maybe the most interesting part of this book for my fans will be the Afterword, which is a short, but I think interesting essay about how Last Fling foreshadows a lot of the themes you can find in my more recent (and I think more mature) work.

It is a sexy book still. Some hot scenes, and I think definitely worth the $0.99 I’m asking for it.

Retiring the tag line?

The tagline for my blog is “Just maybe the best smut author you’ve never heard of.” Given the success of my latest novel/novella, I might have to retire that.

Dark Tide was my first foray into interracial erotica, and it turned out really well. This is not just my assessment. I currently have 12 reviews on Amazon, 11 five stars, and 1 four star. Not bad. It has also sold really well. At one time or another I was #1 in two separate erotica subcategories.

Needless to say, I’m thrilled. It isn’t Fifty Shades of Gray territory, but you know what? I’ll take it.

Review of FrolicMe.Com

I recently received an email from Anna, the founder of FrolicMe.com asking if I’d be interested in reviewing her site. I was happy to do so. She provided me with one-month free access so I could peruse the material, and she agreed to tweet a link of my review to her followers. I say all of this just to clarify that this is not a paid review. No quid pro quos beyond what I just laid out.

HOME-PAGE-HEADER-900-65

So, Frolic Me is a subscription-based adult site with a number of very professional and sexy short films and photosets as well as a number of “stories” written by various recognizable erotica authors. I’ll explain why I put “stories” in quotes in a moment.

This is “couples” porn or “women’s” porn. (BTW, I don’t mean porn in a pejorative sense. I consider myself a “porn author.” Call it erotica if you prefer. Po-ta-to, po-tah-to)

Nothing extreme or disrespectful. An ideal, non-threatening introduction. No extreme choking or gagging or slapping. Pretty much just straight sex, though there is a little light bondage and a threesome or two in the mix as well.

The women are very, very attractive. Wholesome, girl-next-door, models. Very few tattoos or piercings. The men are a bit of a mixed bag, I have to say, but they too are non-threatening. Normal bodies, normal cocks. Fit, but not as attractive as the women. This is either a feature or a bug depending on your interests.

The quality of the images and video is superb. Beautifully shot, well-lit, nicely paced. Very, very professional and technically proficient.

All of those things, btw, are both the strengths and weaknesses of the site. It is nice that this site exists, but I have to admit, I’ve always been skeptical of “couples” or “women’s” porn, or at least of the label. I think what we have here is really much more “introductory” porn, a safe way of experimenting with porn in a relationship. The problem is, I think, most people, women and couples included, are more kinky than the site suggests (think of 50 Shades, for instance), and there is a certain lack of kink here. (Though Anna tells me they will add more variety in the future). Again, this is either a bug or a feature depending on what you’re looking for.

That said, it is definitely appealing to see an erotic site that is respectfully toward women. I want to stress that point again. If you’re a man who wants to introduce his wife to porn, this is a great place to start, and if you’re a woman who wants to admit her interest in erotica to her man, this is also a safe way to do so with little risk of being branded damaged, or a pervert, or whatever sexually uptight people say about those of us who like porn.

My only real qualm is the “stories.” They aren’t stories. There are no characters, no plot, no emotion, no real dialogue. The “stories” are just competently written descriptions of a given sexual encounter. Yes, it is sexy to have these descriptions matched up to the lovely photo sets on the site, but my own preference for erotica is something that actually explains and provides meaning to the sex. Characters with back-stories and motivations. It doesn’t need to be Tolstoy, and I get that leaving it really open, with no names or details, sort of invites readers to immerse themselves in the situation, but if I have to provide the meaning myself, then what is the point of the words?

Maybe that is just my conceit as an author. Maybe people really do just want descriptions of what they are seeing… though as a colleague of mine once noted, “there are only so many ways to insert Tab A into Slot B, so the key is to make people care about the owners of the parts.” That said, the stories are very, well-written, which is not surprising given the quality of the authors (most of whom are reasonable well-know erotica authors).

Anyway, for people who are looking to add a little spice to their relationships by introducing some porn, this is a great starting place. Sexy models, lovely photography, and some well-written descriptions of sexual encounters. Check it out. Frolic Me.

Dark Tide: An Interracial Adventure on the High Seas

dark-tide-finalMy new book, Dark Tide is now available for pre-order (release day is just a  few days from now, March 11, 2015). This one was a ton of fun to write and I suspect it will be a ton of fun to read. It is an interracial, wife-watching story, but without the sissification and racist caricatures In most of this sort of story. Not that it is tame, and of course, we have plenty of big, black cocks, but the tone is lighter, more playful than you’ll usually find. So, just as The Surrogate Master was a BDSM book for non-BDSM readers, I think this book will appeal to more than the hardcore, interracial cuckolding audience. Give it a try!

The Vagaries of Amazon: Becoming a Bestselling Author

Had quite a fun ride with my latest story — Midlife Glitch — a 20k word short about an older man and a younger woman. Reviews were generally good, although as expected a book about an affair between a 54  year-old man and a 18 year-old young woman triggered some people’s “ick factor.” Anyway, the story sold like nothing I’ve ever written before. It surged to #1994 in the paid Kindle store, which is pretty amazing for me.

And that brought me into the top 100 erotica authors on Amazon for the first time. I think I topped out at #82 or so. Didn’t get a screen cap of that number, but anyway, trust me on it. Screen Shot 2015-02-13 at 5.37.02 PM

So, I guess I get to call myself a bestselling author now?

But the weird thing is that I have no idea why this book sold so much better than the others. I have a couple of new things in the works — including an interracial, wife-sharing that I am quite happy with. So I guess we’ll see if my success with Midlife Glitch carries over.

You can, as always, check out all my books at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Ben-Boswell/e/B00HSM15SY/

And if you have any idea why Midlife Glitch did so well, I’d be delighted to hear it.

Why Men (Boys) Like Lesbians

Overheard an insightful conversation the other day courtesy of my 13 y/o son and his goofy (male) friends. I was driving a pack of them around, so not going out of my way to listen in, but one them seemed to have found something online about lesbians and was passing it around on his phone. It wasn’t porn as far as I could tell, but more like some article or gag website he’d found about lesbians, and as you know, at that age, even the word is enough to reduce them to hysterics.

But here’s the thing. Their conclusion about why lesbians are cool is that, “they must just sit around all day practicing with each other what they’d do to their boyfriends.”

That’s funny for about a dozen reasons, not the least of which is the idea that lesbians are particularly concerned about boyfriends. But it does capture a germ of the male fantasy, which is that women (or girls at the age) spend most of their time together in sexual experimentation. I mean, what else would they be doing?

I didn’t have the heart to burst their bubble by pointing out that just as the boys don’t spend their time sexually experimenting on each other, the girls probably don’t either. Well, that and the fact that I sort of still have a secret hope they do. I mean, when my wife goes “running” with her girl friends, maybe they are just using it as an excuse to go off together, get naked and….

New Short Out (Midlife Glitch)

Midlife GlitchMidlife Glitch

Dan is fifty-four, married, semi-retired, and an empty nester. Ashley is eighteen, blond, beautiful and the daughter of Dan’s best friend. She’s in town pursuing an internship. They have nothing in common except a sudden, burning attraction that risks destroying everything around them if they give in to temptation.

When a family emergency sends Dan’s wife half-way across the country, he is left to grapple with his lust for his inappropriately young houseguest. But Ashley has her own needs and desires, and in the end, attraction can’t always be contained.

Most Important Movie Sex Scenes

You all know I love movie erotica as well as written erotica, so I just wanted to flag this really cool list. The Thirty Most Important Sex Scenes in movie history.

I’m not sure I agree with all of them, but it is definitely a nice start. Nice to see Bound on there, a film I’ve mentioned before.

Also, just a reminder, my new short Deja Vu is now available for purchase at Amazon. Check it out. http://www.amazon.com/Deja-Vu-Cuckolding-Shorts-Book-ebook/dp/B00QE2B1ZG

Oh, and keep an eye on this blog. I’ll have another a link to another of my old favorite alt.sex.stories submission in a few days.

Deju Vu Available for Pre-Order

I have another short story now available at Amazon for pre-order. I really like this one. It is of my newer shorts, and is more clever than some of the stories I wrote years ago. Still, it is a short, so don’t expect a ton of character development of an extensive plot arc. But it is some of clever. And a great cover designed by Kenny Wright. Best of all, only $0.99!

Bill and Jessie are celebrating their tenth anniversary when they run into Bill’s college roommate. Chad is so handsome and charming that Jessie knows she needs to have him. Saying no should be easy for Bill, but he and Chad have a long and twisted past and this is not the first time Bill has had to deal with Chad’s intoxicating effect on even the most sober-minded of women.
